Conservation of the floor in old marbles “opus sectile”.

The room XXV of Trajan’s villa to Arcinazzo Romano highlands presents the collapse of an extraordinary decoration of inlaid walls of colored antique marbles (opus sectile). In this work, thanks to the close collaboration between archaeologists and restorers, the selective collection of all the materials slabs and marble frames collapsed was performed.
The technical information and statistical analysis of the fragments found divided by material, shape and size, bearing in mind the position of collapse, they have allowed a first reconstruction of the hypothetical graphical decorative scheme. The final highlighted the floor and the base has allowed the restoration.
